Fit Kit

The Original Fit Kit

Contrary to some bike shops’ opinions, bicycle fitting is not just a rough guess of standover height followed by a ride around the parking lot.

Specific personal measurements of inseam, torso and arm length determine optimum seat and top tube lengths.

Shoulder measurements determine the proper handle bar width (yes, we change the handle bars on our bikes if they’re not right for you.)

And the only sure way to adjust saddle height and fore/aft position, and stem height and length is to put the bike into a stationary trainer and watch you ride.

By doing this we make sure your body is in the most comfortable and efficient position for the riding you do—especially important if you have special needs like a knee, back or neck injury.

Yes, this fitting process takes time. About an hour. So we schedule a second visit to the shop after you’ve made your bike selection from our (already mentioned) extensive menu.

And we find that when we spend time fitting you to your bike, treating you the way a fellow bike enthusiast should be treated, you recommend us to your friends when they decide to take up riding.

And makes even more riding buddies for all of us!
